Fine Art Gallery

My daughter loves to draw. As I was going through some old things a few weeks ago I found my art history textbook from college (loved that class) and thought it would be fun to look through it with my daughter. We then created some lovely framed construction paper canvases and she got to create her own art work.

I thought she'd be inspired by Monet or maybe Van Gogh, but she actually was drawn to the modern art. I think she liked the clean simple lines.

And here's our art gallery:

Ellsworth Kelly, Red Blue Green
Frank Stella, Nunca Pas Nada
Jasper Johns, Flag
Donald Judd, Untitled

She had so much fun and told me she wanted to create more art again soon.

  4. So cute! There is a darling blog called pineapplepaintbrush.com that has amazing art projects for children. We've been inspired and trying out our own art exhibit. Thank you for the fun idea.

  5. What a fun idea. I did a lot of this kind of art when I was a teacher. I had a lot of success with cut strips of paper in various sizes when recreating Mondrian. Fun!

  6. A budding artist there! Wouldn't her art works make a great "Art Party" garland for one of her upcoming birthdays?

  8. Such a fun idea! My boys did this in Kindergarten. They learned about different artist and then tried to reproduce a piece of their art. One of my favorites is Warhol's Campbells Soup Can that my oldest son made last year:)
