Sidewalk Game

It's that time of year to be outside.  My daughter and I have loved playing this new sidewalk game.  We write all the letters of the alphabet (both upper and lower case) around our driveway.  We then take turns calling out a letter.  One of us runs to the uppercase letter and the other to the lower case letter.

We're learning, having fun, and getting our energy out all at the same time!

  4. We'll have to try that, sounds like a fun, yet sneaky, way to slip in letter practice during the summer. :)

Last week we played a scavenger hunt (of sorts) with chalk on the driveway. I drew big circles, then put a number in the center (like "25")... then put an object in each circle. I think we had 5 or 6 circles. One for acorns, one for twigs, one for rocks, one for leaves, etc. They had to count and collect the right number for each circle. Took them all afternoon. It was awesome (for me and for them)! :)

  5. We love sidewalk chalk, too. I just used it for one of my little kindness projects... an inspirational message for the neighborhood. :-)

  6. This could be adapted for schools by having the letters on cards around the playground. Good idea - combines literacy with exercise! ;)
