Felt Lunch

My daughter was the inspiration for this one. Now that she's learned to use scissors she loves to cut up everything. She was cutting up some felt the other day, stuck the pieces between two sheets of paper, handed it to me and said, "Here's a sandwich for you Mom."

So, then I started thinking . . . lets make lunch out of felt.

I drew up a pattern . . .

Cut out the pieces in felt . . .

And lunch was ready!

My daughter has loved making her own sandwiches to take on a picnic with her dolls. She's also had fun setting up a pizza and sandwich shop and taking orders from my husband and me.

Have fun creating!

Clafoutis

It's pronounced kla-FOO-tee. It's a French dessert--but makes a great breakfast too.

I found it in the Friend Magazine. I don't think I've ever tried a single recipe from there, but this one looked really good. My daughter helped me make it. I think it is so tasty.

Clafoutis

4 eggs
2 cups milk or rice milk
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla extract
1/2 cup fresh or frozen fruit of your choice (cherries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches) I used frozen raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
  • Place eggs, milk, flour, sugar, salt, and extract in a blender. Blend on low speed for about 30 seconds. Pour into a quiche dish or ovenproof glass dish. I used a 8x8 glass dish. Put fruit on top. Cook at 350°F (177°C) for 45 minutes or until clafoutis is not very jiggly.

If you try it let me know what you think.

Going Hunting

I'm back. It feels like I've been gone forever. It was a much needed vacation and fun to see family for a few weeks.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The other day my daughter informed me she wanted to go hunting. I immediately assumed that she wanted to pretend to hunt for animals with guns. I quickly learned though that she wanted to go hunting for Easter eggs. OK. That seems more like it.

Since the Easter eggs are all put away at this time of year I pulled an old game out of the bag. When my daughter was around 18 months during the long and cold winter I used to hide blocks around the house and then we would search the house for them. It's been so long since we've done this she didn't even remember. Now that she's older though she can name the letters and the numbers on the blocks as she puts them in the basket. This makes it a little more at her level, but fun nonetheless.

So pull out those blocks and go hunting.
